Couple faces meth charges following traffic stop

A Hartselle couple is in jail after Decatur Police located “ice” methamphetamine in their car during a traffic stop Tuesday.

The driver, Corey Hart, 34, of 2208 Indian Hills Road in Hartselle, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while revoked. Corey was transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $3,500.00 bond.

The passenger, April Hart, 36, of 2208 Indian Hills Road in Hartselle, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $3,000 bond.

On Tues., June 10, members of Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit conducted a traffic stop at the corner of Sandlin Road and Courtney Drive due to knowing the driver of the vehicle had a revoked driver’s license.

Investigators with the Organized Crime Unit were dispatched to the scene and located a quantity of high grade, “ice” methamphetamine. A set of digital scales and plastic bags consistent with the packaging and sale of narcotics were also located inside the vehicle.
