Walling, Davis place at state meet, McGee qualifies for finals

Kelsey Rae Walling and Abigail Davis placed at the AHSAA State Indoor Meet at the Birmingham Crossplex Monday.

Walling came in third in the Class 5A girls pole vault with a jump of 8-6.

Davis had a time of 12:12.69 to finish fourth in the Class 5A girls 3,200 meters.

Billie Shelton was 12th in the girls 60-meter hurdles and 27th in the 60-meter dash, an event of which  alumnus Quanesha Burks holds the record.

Reagan Bowling finished 12th in the 800 meters.

As of Monday evening, Hartselle was ranked fifth in team points.

On the boys side, Mason McGee led the way by qualifying third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.89. He will compete in the finals Tuesday.

Davis’ brother, Aaron Davis, nearly missed scoring for Hartselle, finishing 11th in the boys 3,200 meters. He finished with a time of 11:00.96 while Timothy Ammons was 18th in the same race.

D’Andre Mack and Kris Doss were 20th and 31st respectively in the 60 meters while John Paulsen and Chase Barrett were 19th and 23rd in the boys 800 meters.

Brett Hale was 23rd in the long jump.
