Dina Springer Byrd

Funeral for Dina Springer Byrd, 57, of Hartselle will be Fri., Jan. 24, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hartselle with the Rev. Charlie Brown and Bro. Neal Culberson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Thur., Jan. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Byrd died Tues., Jan. 21, 2014 at her residence. She was born Feb. 3, 1956, in Morgan County to Henry Jr. Springer and Carolyn Green Springer. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. She was a mother first and a nurse second. Her career consisted of the Director of Labor and Delivery at Decatur General Hospital. She was also responsible for developing Caregivers of the Valley, a division of Hospice of the Valley. Her nursing career totaled over 34 years. The new training facility at Caregivers of the Valley was recently named “Dina’s Place” in honor of her hard work and dedication. She was preceded in death by Gary Byrd; a brother, Jeff Springer; and a grandson, John Thomas Huff.

She is survived by a son, Gregory T. Byrd (Kimberly) of Hartselle; two daughters, Katie Byrd Huff (David) and Anna Byrd Thigpen (Josh) all of Hartselle; parents, Henry Jr. and Carolyn Green Springer of Hartselle; a sister, Susan Lewis of Hartselle; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Huff, Josh Thigpen, Jimmy Galbreath, Jeff Stinson, Bobby Brown and John Fleischman.
