Danville rallies to beat Brewer

Danville rallied from a seven-point deficit at the end of the third quarter to defeat Brewer 57-52 Thursday night.

Danville controlled the first half, leading 16-9 at the end of the first quarter and 28-25 at halftime. Patrick Doherty got the Hawks off to a good start shooting a trio behind the arc in the first quarter. Senior teammate Kyle Alexander also added five in stanza.

Brewer took advantage of the Hawks’ poor shooting to take a 44-37 lead heading into the final stanza. Kolton Bramlett led the comeback with a quartet of 3-pointers, three of which came in the third quarter. He finished with 23.

The Hawks exploded for 20 points in the final stanza to give them a much needed victory headed into county tournament play this week.

Alexander led the Hawks with 19 followed by Doherty with 16, Alan Cordova with nine and Andres Cordova with seven.

Other scorers for Brewer included Josh Campbell with nine while Austin Bentley and Brenden Deberry finished with eight points apiece
