Maxine Smallwood Martin

Funeral for Maxine Smallwood Martin, 69, of Decatur will be Sat., Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Pitts officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Sat. morning.

Ms. Martin died on Wed., Jan. 8, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born on April 16, 1944, in Hartselle to Arthur and Blanche Smallwood. Ms. Martin worked many years at Lowe’s Home Improvement in Decatur, retiring in 2009. She always said that Lowe’s was one of the best jobs she ever had! She loved working with the employees and the Community here in Decatur. She was a resident at Cullman Healthcare Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Pat Lindsey.

She is survived by a son, Timothy Wayne Martin of Hartselle; two daughters, Vickie Martin Sharp (Dudley) of Hartselle and Cindy Diane Martin of Decatur; a granddaughter, Reagan Leigh Martin of Decatur; two brothers, Jerry Smallwood and Scotty Smallwood, both of Hartselle; and one sister, Becky Stringer (Phillip) of Hartselle.

The family would like to say thank you to her cousin, Sue McDonald, for her unwavering help and support as Maxine’s caregiver, along with Amedisys Home Health Care and Elder Care.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be made to the Morgan County Mental Health Association, www.mhainmc.net, the Alzheimer’s Program.
