Vertie Depreast Townsend

A memorial service for Vertie Depreast Townsend, 82, of Hartselle was Mon., Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. at Cedar Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Ralph Henderson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Cedar Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Townsend died Fri., Dec., 13, 2013. She was born May 11, 1931, in Hartselle to John McKinley Depreast and Thelma Johnson Depreast. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, David Edward (Dick) Townsend.

She graduated from Danville High School as Valedictorian in 1949. She worked at Citizen’s/South Trust Bank of Hartselle for 43 years. She was a member of Cedar Creek Freewill Baptist Church for many years and was a true Christian and a kind lady. She cherished her family and friends.

She is survived by a son, Patrick Whitney Townsend and wife Suzanne; a brother Louis Depreast and wife Betty, all of Hartselle a sister, Barbara Lawrence of Decatur ; and 15 nieces and nephews.
