Basket Brigade still accepting donations before Saturday event

The Chappell Karate Basket Brigade 2013 will be held Sat., Dec. 21, at the Osborne, Warren and Oden Recreation Center, located at 906 Roberts Drive in Hartselle.

Beginning at 11 a.m., volunteers – including children – will meet to sort and package the turkeys, canned vegetables, bags of potatoes, rolls, drinks, pies, roasting pans, Bibles and Christmas cards into boxes.

Once the sorting and packaging is completed, volunteers will personally deliver the food baskets to families all over our area who may otherwise do without a Christmas dinner this year.

The Basket Brigade currently has collected enough money to give out about 150 dinners. Donations are still being accepted.

If anyone would like to donate to the Basket Brigade, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, please contact Donna Chappell at 256-751-3325 or Amanda Bussey at 256-612-4438.
