Cheyenne McLemore, Savana Flack and Riley Northway have been playing together for a long time in both basketball and volleyball.

The three senior athletes have also seen the pinnacle of both sports, winning a state championship in basketball in 2012 and making its first state championship match in volleyball just two weeks ago.

So it was fitting that the trio of Lady Patriots would sign national letters of intent on the same day.

“It was awesome that we got to share this day together,” Northway said. “We’re all family.”

Flack echoed Northway’s sentiments, saying that each of their families have become close with each other.

“Our extended families have each become a part of each other’s extended families,” Flack said. “They’re always there wherever we’re playing.”

Northway signed a scholarship to play basketball at Division 1 Lipscomb University. McLemore is heading to Division 2 Shorter University to play volleyball and Flack will continue her basketball career at Faulkner University.

All three of them committed during the summer and signed on the first day of the early signing period. Northway, who was ranked 49th at her position by ESPN, put her recruitment behind her with her early commitment.

Flack and McLemore said they both had offers from Wallace State Community College. Flack’s offer from Wallace would have allowed her to play both basketball and volleyball. But both closed their recruiting windows in July.

Northway said she plans to study mechanical engineering. McLemore wants to study psychology while Flack wants to go into education to be a math teacher.
