Carpenter’s Cabinet plans 5K walk for cancer Nov. 16

Birthday wishes are sent from First Baptist Church in Falkville to Mildred Brown and Alicia Thompson on Nov. 12, Karla Burcham on Nov. 14, Denise Weaver and Jerry Wood, both on Nov. 15, Karen Banks on Nov. 18, Hannah Blevins on Nov. 19, Amber Leigh Woods on Nov. 23, Mary Ann Copeland on Nov. 25 and Dorothy Clark on Nov. 26.

October was Pastor Appreciation month. The Rev. Greg Burcham, pastor of First Baptist Church Falkville, was honored with a luncheon after church services Oct. 27. The guests dined on salads, desserts and a variety of covered dish foods.

The Carpenters Cabinet, located on Railroad Street, Falkville will sponsor a 5K walk for cancer Nov. 16. Bonnie O’Brian of WRSA Radio Station in Huntsville will be there.

The walk will start at 9 a.m. To register go online at www.thecarpentercabinet.org or phone, 256-784-5311, for more information. They are open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Bible study classes are held Fridays from 10 until 11:30 a.m.

Falkville Senior Center was the setting for a Halloween costume party last Thursday. Clezell Asherbranner came dressed as Raggedy Ann and won first place, Martha Garrison came dressed as Duke and won second place, Vivian Summerford won third place dressed as a witch. Also winning in the costume contest were Martha Asherbranner, Judy McClellan and Linda Williams.

Among the others attending this event were Billy and Mary Ables, Faye Anders, Bobby and Linda Ball, Floyd and Grace Bradford, Patty Clemons, Jenny Kelsey, Jake and Patty Pike, Movlyn Roberson, Charles Williams. Jackie Turney and Barbara Asherbranner.

Falkville Senior Center extends birthday wishes to Vivian Summerford on Nov. 5 and Gayle Wallace on Nov. 7.

Congratulations to the Falkville Blue Devils football team for winning their game against Danville last Friday night. They won eight games in the regular season and their only loss was to Ragland.
