Danville Lady Hawks qualify for state as No. 4 seed

Danville’s Lady Hawks survived the Class 3A Super Regional Tournament on Saturday and will meet defending state champion Bayside Academy in the first round of the Elite Eight Tournament in Birmingham Wed., Oct. 30, at 11 a.m.

Danville opened regional play with a 3-0 win over Cordova, 25-10, 25-4, 25-18, lost a close match to Madison Academy, 30-28, 21-25, 25-16, 26-24 in the semi-finals and fell to West Morgan, 20-25, 25-29, 25-23, 21-25, 15-12 in the consolation bracket.

Sydni Shelton paced the Lady Hawks in cumulative statistics by scoring 91 kills, , 11 blocks, 41 digs and 13 aces.

Kheala Roberts had 47 kills and seven blocks, Charlee Anderson collected 132 assists and 11 aces, Kellee Stiles had 10 kills and 25 digs, Andrea Carter added five blocks, Jada Harris had five blocks and Sloan Lindsey scored 46 digs and 15 aces.
