Marie Stinson Holmes

Funeral for Marie Stinson Holmes, 87, of Somerville will be Tues., Oct. 22, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Smith officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Red Oak Cemetery.

Mrs. Holmes died Sun., Oct. 20, 2013, at Falkville Health Care Center. She was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Morgan County to Andrew David Stinson and Annie Mae Lindsey Stinson. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Mrs. Holmes was an active member of Cotaco United Methodist Church where she served as secretary for 15 years. She also was a substitute teacher at Cotaco School. Her passions were family, church and traveling. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Holmes; her parents: four brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Noel Holmes; a son, Jeff Holmes and wife Sherry; granddaughters, Brandy Bedingfield and husband Scott and their children, Jacob, Kalyn and Ally and Cindy Holmes and her children Madison and Kayli; Dwain Holmes and daughter Faith and Dennis Holmes II and wife Missy and their daughter Jacky.

Pallbearers were Scott Bedingfield, Dennis Holmes II, Dale McCutcheon, Jerry Thomas, George Holden Jr., and Mike Gibson. Honorary pallbearers were Dwain Holmes and Jacob Bedingfield.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cotaco United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
