Enjoy fall activities

The month of October is one of the best times throughout the year. The weather is spectacular. The leaves are beginning to change.

As the seasons change, here are a few events you can enjoy this fall weather.

The annual Hartselle High School Battle of the Classes will take place Oct. 10 at 1:30 p.m. in the school gym. Parents and friends are encouraged to come and cheer on your favorites. Admission is $3.

The Hartselle Tigers battle West Point in a Class 5A, Area 8 matchup for HHS’s homecoming football game. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime. Special honored guests that evening will be members of the Classes of 1964 and 1993, who are celebrating reunions.

Country rock band Kentucky Headhunters will be the headlining act at the Falkville Fall Festival set for Oct. 12. Sponsored by the Falkville Volunteer Fire Department and the Town of Falkville, the annual celebration features an antique tractor show, car show and other activities in addition to live music. A pancake breakfast at the Fire Department kicks off the event at 7 a.m. The car show and tractor show follow at 8 a.m. with arts and crafts vendors, bingo, inflatable fun for children and food vendors set up throughout the day. The Fire Department will host a cake auction at noon. Music lineup includes local artist Jeff Whitlow and the Old Barn Band at 11 a.m. and The Kentucky Headhunters at 1 p.m. The event wraps up around 3 p.m. Admission is free. Hartselle Junior High School is having a fall festival/trunk-or-treat, which will be held Oct. 31 prior to the Hartselle vs. Austin football game. HJHS will have a Swamp John’s dinner .

Spooktacular Shindig Oct. 31, at 5 p.m. at the youth soccer fields on Groover Road with the final family movie night in the park. The movie “Hocus Pocus” will begin at 7 p.m.
