Hartselle clinches regular season area championship

Hartselle’s Lady Tigers clinched first placed in area standings with a 6-0 record and earned the right to host the upcoming area tournament by defeating Cullman 25-6, 25-10, 25-18 in a volleyball tri-match at Cullman Tuesday night.

They also defeated Meek 25-15, 25-11, improving their overall record to 35-15.

Against Cullman, Megan Zuck paced Hartselle with 11 kills, five aces, a block and a dig. Haley Jared contributed nine kills, eight digs and a pair of blocks.

Taylor Lybarger scored seven kills, four digs and a pair of aces. Melissa-Paul Hill had 29 assists, four digs, two blocks and a kill. Sarah Ellen Battles collected eight digs, an ace and an assist. Bailey Powell had three kills, Jordan Barbrey added two assists, an ace and a dig. Katy Beth Bole had five kills and two blocks while Hannah Warren had an assist.

Lybarger led the way against Meek with 12 kills, eight digs and an ace. Jared had eight kills, four digs, a block and an ace. Zuck added three kills and four digs.

Hill had 22 assists and four digs. Battles scored nine digs. Powell had a dig and a block. Barbrey added eight digs and an ace and Bole had a kill and a dig.
