Eddy, Compton make cut in championship

Arin Eddy and Beth Ann Compton finished one shot apart at the 23rd Women’s Stroke Play Championship at Cherokee Ridge Country Club in Union Grove.
Eddy overcame an 85 in the first round and followed it up with 78 on both Saturday and Sunday to finish with a score of 241. That was 21 shots behind championship flight winner Cammie Gray of Northport.
Compton was consistent shooting rounds of 82, 81 and 79 to finish with 242.
Eddy finished fifth in the first flight of the tournament while Compton was second in the second flight.
Compton and Eddy both played golf for Hartselle High School in 2013.
