Celia Nunnelley
July 17, 2013
A celebration of life service for Celia Nunnelley, 56, of Cullman will be announced at a later date. Peck Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
Mrs. Nunnelley died Wed., July 17, 2013, from cervical cancer. She was born Aug. 2, 1956, in Arab to Nadine A. and C.M. Nunnelley. She graduated from Fairview High School in 1974. She worked at the Cullman Public Library from 1980 until 1992 where she was able to help thousands of people, young and old, with books and with genealogical research. She helped establish the Cullman Animal Shelter. Her love of kids and animals kept her busy until failing health caused her to become homebound. Even after having to quit work, she was still able to help raise her nephew, Lakota York. She enjoyed basket weaving, painting and sewing.
She is survived by M. Frank Kinser; her mother Nadine Nunnelley of Prattville; her sisters, Carolyn Mullenux and husband Tom of Hartwell, Ga. and Joan Powell and husband Mike of Montgomery; her brothers, Robert Nunnelley and wife Margie of Millbrook and David Nunnelley of Nashville, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Mary Sue Bowen of Good Hope; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and extended family Karla Kinser and Lakota York of Cullman.
The family would like to extend its deepest thanks to the staff at River City Care and Rehab in Decatur, the staff of North Alabama Hospice, the staff of Alacare Cullman and Birmingham, as well as the UAB Radiation Oncology and Gynecology departments. Your care and compassion for Celia over the past year has been outstanding.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to the Brook Hill Ovarian Cancer Foundation, the American Cancer Society, or any charity of your choice.
