Hartselle’s 8U all-stars headed to world series

Hartselle’s 8U Black all-stars aren’t ready to end their season after finishing fifth in the state tournament and qualifying for a berth in the USSSA Softball World Series in Alfreda, Ga. July 21-26.

“Some of our girls and their parents are out raising money to help pay for the trip as we speak,” head coach Jason Preuitt said Monday. “We also will have a car wash fundraiser at Eddie Preuitt Ford on Saturday and are selling tickets for a prize drawing.”

“We let the girls have a week off after the state tournament,” he stated. “We couldn’t practice anyway with all of the rain. But its back to the practice field this week and we’ll probably do some work every day except Sunday until we play again.

Preuitt said he doesn’t know yet what team Hartselle will play first or when its first game is scheduled. .

No decision had been made at press time if Hartselle’s 15U team will exercise its option to play in the USSSA World Series or a 16-U travel team tournament in Orange Beach.

Head coach Skip Drinkard said the matter would be discussed at a team pool party Tuesday night.
