HHS softball presents awards

Eight members of Hartselle High School’s softball team were singled out for special recognition at an awards program on May 20.

Senior Baylee Holt and sophomore Taylor Wascavage each received multiple awards. Holt claimed the academic award and was co-winner of the offensive award. Wascavage was co-winner of the hustle award and co-winner of the offensive award.

Jada Hayes was co-winner of the hustle award, Tori Denslow claimed the Lady Tiger spirit award and Madeline Sittason received the team player award.

In addition, four players were recognized as having their achievements entered into the Hartselle High School softball record book.

Holt finished fifth in career home runs with 12, fifth in career hits with 183, second in season batting average in 2012 with a .487 and fourth in season batting average in 2013 at .450, fourth in season runs scored at 60 and fourth in season on base percentage in 2012 at .523.

Senior Kayla Faulk finished fourth in season home runs in 2013 with nine, sixth in career home runs with 11 and fourth in season RBIs in 2013 with 55.

Senior Leah Stephenson and junior Sarah Ellen Battles each finished in a tie for first in sacrifices with 16 during the 2013 campaign.
