Hartselle defeats Deshler in spring game

TUSCUMBIA – Hartselle used a pair of touchdowns by D’Andre Mack to defeat the Deshler Tigers 24-21 in its spring game on Thursday.

Despite not having nine guys who will see significant playing time, the Tigers managed to rally from a 14-3 deficit.

The first points for Hartselle came on a Jack Waterman field goal.

After allowing a pair of Deshler scores, the Tigers finally got its running game going. Mack scored his first touchdown, a 4-yard scamper.

After a big defensive stand, Mack scored again, this time from 24 yards out, giving Hartselle a 17-14 lead.

Deshler rallied with a 40-yard touchdown run, but the Hartselle Tigers tacked one more score on the board with less than two minutes remaining in the half.

Jake Tiffin passed to Tabias Mitchell for a 6-yard touchdown. Waterman added his third extra point.

Hartselle stopped Deshler on the ensuing possession and held on for the win.

The varsity only played two quarters while the JV played for two quarters.
