Three senior Lady Devils brought home gold medals after finishing third at the AHSAA State Track and Field meet in Class 1A on Saturday.

Behind state winner Westminster with 120.33 points, and runner-up Cedar Bluff with 100 points, the Falkville girls finished with 65 points to seal third place.

The talk of the Falkville girls was three seniors who each brought home a gold medal and personal record as they left the state meet. On day one, senior Lizzie Davis won a gold medal as the high jump state champion, clearing 4’10, while teammate Autumn Eddy finished in 4th place, giving the girls an early 14 points. On day two, senior Tiana Drinkard won the javelin event on a clutch last throw, sealing back-to-back javelin state titles and also setting a new 1A javelin state record with a throw of 121’8”. Amber Riddle also had a first place finish, winning the 110 meter hurdles on day two.

Madeline Cvetanovski grabbed the bronze in the pole vault event.

Riddle also finished 4th in the 300 meter hurdles and was a member of the 7th-place 1600 meter relay team. Other members were Hannah Johnson, Caitlin Dotson and Cvetanovski. Emily Mickelson and Tiana Drinkard were 4th and 5th respectively in the discus throw. Also, Misty Eddy finished 6th in the shot put while Autumn Eddy finished 6th in the triple jump.
