State track meet updates

Quanesha Burks is the first athlete from the area to win a state championship during the state track meets this weekend in Gulf Shores and Selma.

Burks had an effort of 39-10 to win the state championship in the triple jump. She was second last year to state record-holder Lacy Dent of St. Paul’s.

Elizabeth Davis of Falkville won the 1A state championship in high jump.

Here are other highlights:

  • In Class 1A, Cade Wilemon placed third in the 1,600 meters. Blake Bradford was eighth.
  • William Littrell, Clay Kyle and Ryan Sullivan, all of Falkville, were third, fourth and fifth in the 1A pole vault.
  • Priceville’s Tyler Johnson was sixth in the 4A 1,600-meter run.
  • Falkville’s Madeline Cvetanovski placed third in pole vault.
