County’s spring clean-up continues through Saturday

A spring clean-up observance in Hartselle and Morgan County will continue through Sat., April 26.

Hartselle’s Public Works Department is offering free curbside pickup of old household appliances, furniture and other junked items until noon on Saturday. At the same time, the city’s inert landfill will accept junk from city residents free of charge.

Residents are asked to place items for pickup next to the curb and away from utility poles and other obstructions.

Items excluded from the pickup include automobile tires and batteries, treated lumber waste, roofing and chemicals.

District shops 2, 3 and 4 will be accepting junk from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and from 7 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. District 1 will participate on Saturday only. Shop personnel will be available to assist in the unloading of heavy items.

The Decatur-Morgan County Landfill at Trinity will also be accepting household junk free of charge during regular business hours through Saturday.

Adopt-A-Mile volunteers will lead an effort to remove litter from public road rights-of-way and other public grounds as a part of the clean-up effort for the remainder of this week.

The spring clean-up is sponsored by the Morgan County Commission in cooperation with the Adopt-A-Mile Program.
