Ben Callaway

Funeral for Ben Callaway, 84, of Hartselle was Sat., April 6, at 1 p.m. at Hartselle Church of Christ with Phillip Hines officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.

Mr. Callaway died Wed., April 3, 2013, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born Nov. 1, 1928, in Morgan County to Charles Benjamin Callaway, Sr. and Ruby Bray Callaway. Mr. Callaway was a member and former elder of Hartselle Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving as a Sergeant First Class. He was also a former employee of Wolverine Tube as a machine operator and of AFC Plastics as a foreman. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Laverne Callaway Hobbs and Ruthlyn Callaway.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine H. Callaway of Hartselle; a son, John Pau Callaway of Huntsville; two daughters, Lisa Callaway Holmes and husband Glenn Holmes of Falkville and Nancy Callaway Thomas and husband Luke Thomas of Decatur; a sister, Charlene Callaway Wilson of Palm Desert, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were John Callaway, Glenn Holmes, Luke Thomas, Zackery Holmes, Brandon Thomas and Tripp Callaway.

Honorary Pallbearers were Kerry Hamlett, Greg Teague, Scott Forsythe, James Kifer, Joe Peete and Drew Lockhart.
