Falkville gets win over top 10 team
Falkville’s Blue Devil baseball team knocked off No. 10 Fayetteville the Fayetteville Tournament last week, thanks in part to good hitting at the top of the order.
Tyler Woodall and Tanner Evans, the No. 2 and 3 hitters, had three hits and on RBI apiece. Woodall had three runs scored and a double while Evans scored twice.
Leadoff batter Hunter Woodall and Adam Keenum each had two hits on the afternoon. Other hitters were Ryan Bradford, Dallas Mayer and Blake Bradford, who got the win on the mound.
Blake Bradford pitched a complete game, allowing two earned runs on 11 hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
The Blue Devils exploded for five runs in the first inning and three more in the second inning. They added insurance runs in the fourth and seventh innings.
No. 3 Athens Bible 11, Falkville 3
Athens Bible roughed up Falkville’s pitching staff in the first and third innings to build a 9-3 lead, en route to the win.
Hunter Woodall led off the game with double and scored on Tanner Evans’ ground out to the pitcher. Falkville then took advantage of an Athens Bible error, allowing Ryan Bradford to get on base.
Adam Keenum brought Bradford home with a RBI single. Alston Howard scored the other run on a passed ball.
After that three-run first inning for the Blue Devils, they only mustered one base hit the rest of the way.
Starting pitcher Adam Keenum took the loss, but he was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI.
