Violet Scruggs Vann Hamilton

A graveside service for Violet Scruggs Vann Hamilton, 87, of Somerville will be Fri., March 29, at 1:30 p.m. in Nelson Hollow Cemetery with the Rev. Equator Black officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be Fri., March 29, from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hamilton died on Sat., March 23, 2013, at her residence. She was born May 14, 1925, in Cullman County to Fred Scruggs and Norma Tomilason. Mrs. Hamilton was a U.S. Navy veteran. She was Baptist in faith and worked for Baggette Transportation as a dispatcher and clerk and for Thrift Pharmacy as a clerk. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by a daughter, Marla Henry of Huntsville; a sister, Francis Harris and husband Robert of Cullman; two grandchildren, Angel Hann and husband Dewayne of Somerville and Tim Henry of Huntsville; and four great-grandchildren, Hailey Hann, Emily Hann, Wayne Hann and Jacob Henry.

Pallbearers will be Dewayne Hann, Donnie Hann, Roger Helton, Jerry Hann, James Calahan and Tim Henry.
