Winterfest set for Saturday at Barkley Bridge

Barkley Bridge Elementary School will host its annual Winterfest as a school fundraiser on Sat., Feb. 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will feature a wide variety of fun-filled, carnival-type games for all ages. They will include an inflatable super slide, a cupcake and a book walk and a real clown making balloon animals for the kids. Some of the games will award candy as prizes while others will give tickets, redeemable at the prize store.

The cafeteria will be serving food. Featured items include pizza, nachos, pickles, drinks and homemade desserts.

Other attractions will include a homemade cake auction, class basket auction and teacher item auctions.

The class baskets are especially attractive. For example, one of them contains an Apple I pad and another has a signed Nick Saban football.

Auction items offered by the teachers are also interesting and creative. They include: Be a kindergarten teacher for a day with Mrs. Matson; Your choice to attend a Huntsville Stars baseball game or Huntsville Havoc hockey game with Mr. Waynick; You and a friend will hike and picnic at Hurricane Creek Park with Mrs. Zuck; You and a friend will visit the Nashville Zoo and dine at the Rain Forest Café with Mrs. Spurlin.

Proceeds from the event will stay in the school and be used to benefit students.
