Bell named top special teams player

Nick Bell wanted to try something different.

So he decided to try out for the football team during his junior season.

And the rest is history.

Nick Bell has been Mr. Everything for Priceville, playing at about any position you can think of. He’s a wide receiver, defensive back, kicker, punter and kick returner.

“Nick is just a great athlete,” said Priceville head coach Dirk Strunk. “I think he will make a college coach happy if they choose to offer him a scholarship.”

While football may have not been Bell’s first choice, it has been in his blood.

His father, Randy Bell, played college football and may have hoped his son may decide to put on shoulder pads one day.

That day came two years ago.

“He was really excited to see me play football,” Bell said. “I think he always wanted me to play football, but he never pushed it.”

Bell said the game just came naturally to him.

“I guess it was kind of instinct,” Bell said. “It also helped having a great coach like coach Strunk.”

Bell said he has a great relationship with his coach, but he’s never been able to pull a joke on him.

“You can never pull a joke on him, but he always gets me good,” Bell said.
