Newell and Lois Blackwood Walker

Newell and Lois Blackwood Walker celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on Sun., Dec. 23, 2012.

The couple was honored by their family with an anniversary dinner at the home of their son Alan and wife Sharon Walker.

The couple was married on Dec. 23, 1939. They are the parents of a daughter, the late Charlotte Bradley and a son, Alan Walker of Hartselle. They have four granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.

Walker served in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of WWII. He and his wife bought their farm near Hartselle in 1947 and have lived on it for the past 65 years.
