HHS wrestlers place 4th at meet

Hartselle High School’s wrestling team placed 4th in the “Trojan Duals” in Muscle Shoals on Dec. 22. They actually tied with James Clemons, 36-all, in the dual but were denied the 3rd place trophy based on AHSAA’s tie-breaking rules.

Hartselle Junior High School competed in the Arab Middle School Invitational on Dec. 29 with three of its wrestlers winning medals. Will Howse won second place in his weight class, Cade Hendrickson finished third and Owen Millete came in fourth.

The Tigers will host a dual meet at the Pettey Center on Thur., Jan. 10, beginning at 5 p.m. Opponents will be Bob Jones, Lee and Athens.

HHS wrestlers claim 5th place

Hartselle High School’s wrestling team finished fifth out of 10 teams competing in the James Clemens High School Tournament in Huntsville last weekend.

The Tigers got off to a strong start, defeating Madison County 38-15 and Sparkman 54-20. They came up short in their next two duals, losing 15-59 to Grissom High and 30-39 to James Clemens. They were able to finish fifth overall after bouncing back and defeating East Limestone, 59-24.

Hartselle JV and middle school wrestlers competed in the same tournament. Individual winners were: John Holt, first; Davey Gonzalez, second; Will House, third; and Levi McDaniel, Chad Wallwork and Cody Timmons, fourth.
