Funeral for Evelyn E. Free, 95, of Falkville will be Fri., Jan. 4, at 1 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home with Mrs. Freeman’s grandson, the Rev. Michael Free of Candor, N.C. officiating and Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be Fri., Jan. 4, from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery.

Mrs. Free died Mon., Dec. 31, 2012, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born July 12, 1917, in Blount County to Eddie Lugene Wood and Frances Nunally Wood. She was a member of Albany Baptist Church, formerly Grace Baptist Church in Decatur. She retired from the former Decatur General Hospital as a nurse in 1983 with 21 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Frances Wood; eight sisters; five brothers; her first husband, Harry Jones Sr.; her second husband, William D. Free; and a great-grandson.

She is survived by a son, Harry Jones and wife Patsy of Hartselle; two stepsons, Waylon Free and wife Pat of Decatur and Dwight Free and wife Pam of North Carolina; a daughter, Mary Walker and husband Keith of Cleveland, Tenn.; two sisters, Annie Sue Doty of Oneonta and Ruby Joe Sanford of Pleasant Grove; nine grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will be  pallbearers.
