Mitchell joins HU as finance/accounting manager

Tim Mitchell, a Morgan County native with 34 years of experience in accounting has joined Hartselle Utilities as finance and accounting manager.

Mitchell filled the position two months ago after his predecessor, Bob Sittason, became general manager.

A 1974 graduate of Austin High School, Mitchell was previously employed with a family-owned restaurant business in Huntsville. He also has worked in public accounting and is a former employee of the accounting firm of Wear, Howell & Strickland, PC in Decatur.

“I’m extremely excited to be here,” Mitchell said. “Hartselle is like a second home to me. I have a brother and his wife and a number of friends who live here. Plus, the HU staff has gone the extra mile to welcome me and make me feel at home.”

Mitchell attended the University of Alabama-Huntsville for two years and earned a B.S. degree in accounting at the University of North Alabama.

He and his wife Vicky, a native of Lauderdale County and a retired state coordinator with the Resource Conservation and Development Council, have four adult children and three grandchildren. They live in Decatur ands are members of Central Park Baptist Church. He is a member of Hartselle Rotary Club.

Mitchell is a disc golf enthusiast who played a key role in getting a disc golf course off the ground at Jack Allen Park in Decatur.
