$13,000 in marijuana found at residence

Sheriff Ana Franklin reports that on Thursday, Dec. 6, Morgan County Drug Task Force Agents along with Cullman County Drug Agents went to 118 SE Helms Road in Union Grove.

Cullman Drug Task Force Agents had two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance (marijuana) warrants for Keith Anthony Shaddix, 21.

Drug agents were met by the suspect’s mother, Lisa Shaddix. She told officers that Keith Shaddrix wasn’t home.

After gaining permission to enter the residence to look for the suspect, agents detected a strong odor of marijuana and observed drug paraphernalia in view.

About this time, the suspect arrived home and was then arrested on the outstanding warrants.

Agents asked about the odor and Mr. Shaddix stated that there was marijuana in the residence.

Agents obtained a search warrant and discovered two pounds of hydroponic marijuana along with drug sale paraphernalia. hypodermic syringes and a small amount of methamphetamine were discovered also. A loaded .357 magnum revolver was discovered in the residence as well.

The street value of the marijuana was estimated to be $13,000.

Anthony Keith Shaddix was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana 1st degree and unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) in addition to the two Cullman County unlawful distribution of a controlled substance warrants. Shaddix was currently out on bail for a unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance charge from September 2011.

Mr. Shaddix was transported to the Morgan County Jail and is being held on a $410,000 bond.
