Funeral for Cecil Irvin “C.I.” Mitchell, 86, of Falkville was Sun., Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Greg Burcham officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell died Thur., Dec. 6, 2012, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Lawrence County to John William Mitchell and Essie (Rutherford) Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a World War II veteran.

He was retired from Monsanto, was a very active member of the Lion’s Club and was a member of First Baptist Church of Falkville. He was preceded in death by his wife, LaMerle Mitchell; a brother, Hillard Mitchell; and a brother-in-law, Leon Pierce.

He is survived by a son, Stanley Cecil Mitchell and wife Corrine; a daughter, Blenda Dianne Mitchell Williams and husband Danny; a brother, Price Mitchell and wife Linnie Sue; a sister, Reba Pierce; four grandchildren, Brandon Dillard, Michael Oliver, Suzanne Lynn and Danielle Daniel; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Mitchell

Pallbearers were Brandon Dillard, Blake Oliver, Mark Lynn, Sean Daniel, Danny Williams and Ronald Mitchell.
