Focus on The Gift, not gifts

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me, the credit card bill from last Christmas.

Sound familiar?

During this Christmas season, let’s not focus on the giving and receiving of material things, but on the true meaning of Christmas – the giving of God’s son and the receiving of eternal salvation.

Also during this time, take time to spend with family and friends. Sometimes we all get so caught up with things and are so busy that we lose contact with those near and dear to us.

Love and sympathy go out to Buddy and Mary Posey and family in the loss of family members recently. Mary’s brother-in-law, Bernice “B.W.” Wayne Miller Sr. passed away Nov. 18 and also their granddaughter’s husband, Tim Cowart, passed away then as well.

Hello to Berta Wilson, who is home recovering from surgery.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Tommy Adcock, Allen Boyer, Theresa Chandler, Kathy Hines and Ryan Ogle, all on Nov. 29, and Billy Ray Shadden on Nov. 30.

Happy anniversary to Lloyd and Dean Hampton on Nov. 30.
