Falkville girls tied for third after Day 1

Falkville’s girls track team will begin Day 2 of the Class 2A state track meet in Selma tied for third place.

American Christian Academy holds the lead in Class 2A girls with 40 points followed by Cottage Hill with 22 and Mobile Christian and the Lady Blue Devils with 17 each.

Leading the way was Tiana Drinkard’s state championship in the javelin, with an effort of 114-1.

Sarah Ayre finished third in the triple jump with 32-1.5. Amber Riddle scored a point by finishing eighth in the 400m dash with a time of 1:07.53.

Jaclyn Koerber and Riddle will have a chance to score points for Falkville after qualifying second (17.27) and fourth (17.42) respectively in the girls 100-meter hurdles.

On the boys side, Falkville is in seventh place with 10 points. American Christian also leads 2A boys with 28 points followed by Mobile Christian with 22 and LaFayette with 20.

Aaron Estes finished fourth in the 400 meters with a 54.7 effort. Cade Wilemon was also fifth in the boys 1,600 meters with a time of 4:53.22 while Alex Tuttle’s time of 5:08.49 was good for eighth place.

The boys 4x100m relay will also have a chance to score points after it qualified fifth with a time of 46.15.

For Danville, Tara Jolley was fifth in the girls shot put with a throw of 29-8. Hannah McClung had a sixth-place finish in the high jump with a 4-6 effort.
