Tucker endorses Smith for clerk

Circuit Clerk candidate Jimmy Smith, left, shakes hands with Darren Tucker after receiving Tucker’s endorsement for the Republican Primary Run-Off on April 24. Smith is facing primary leader Chris Priest.

Darren Tucker has endorsed Jimmy Smith for Morgan County Circuit Clerk, subject to the Republican Party Run-off Election April 24.

Tucker received 25 percent of the vote in the March 13 Primary Election while the front runner, Chris Priest, led the ballot with 46.8 percent and Smith finished second with 28.2 percent of the vote.

Tucker said in a prepared statement dated March 13: “I believe Jimmy and I hold the same values. He’s a lifelong Morgan County resident who has successfully managed businesses with many employees. He will make a trustworthy clerk.

“I ask all of those who voted for me on Mar. 13 to please consider Jimmy Smith. You’ll find his sign in my front yard and I hope you’ll cast your vote for him as well.”

“I thank Darren for his endorsement,” Smith stated. “I humbly ask his supporters to vote for me. I pledge to work for the citizens of Morgan County the same as Darren would have had he been elected.”

Smith urged his supporters to call him at 256-221-5091 for a yard sign or to ask any questions pertaining to his candidacy.
