Wayne E. Smith

A memorial service for Wayne E. Smith, 62, of Falkville will be Sun., Mar. 11, at 2 p.m. at Fairview Church of God with Dr. Milan Dekich and friend Billy Vest officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will follow at the church.

Mr. Smith died Tues., Mar. 6, 2012, at his residence. He was born Mar. 4, 1950, in Morgan County to Lucian Leon and Ethel Mavaline Lee Smith. He graduated from Austin High School and attended Bob Jones University. He worked at Monsanto for 10 years where he did electrical work for construction crews. He also worked for Home Depot and his last job was with Nichols Aluminum in Decatur. He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Marvin Ryan Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Riggs Smith of Falkville; two stepsons, Allen McAbee of Aiken, S.C. and Aaron McAbee of Cullman; three stepdaughters, Allison Fleming and husband Darin and Wendy Singleton, both of Trinity and Leslie M. Griffin and husband Brian of Hartselle; his mother, Ethel Mavaline Smith of Decatur; two sisters, Betty Shriver of Colorado and Lori Judd of Georgia; three grandchildren, Madison, Aubrey and Emma; 14 stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley in Decatur, the American Cancer Society or the Carpenter’s Cabinet.
