Bulldogs pull away from Corner

“They (Corner) are a very scrappy team,” said Priceville coach Darrell Haynes. “They gave us all we wanted. Their post player (Austin Sanford) gave us a lot of trouble inside, but I think our size really affected him in the second half.”

Teague led the Bulldogs with 18 points and 5 rebounds while Hawkins added 13 points. Varner only had 8 points, but he also collected 11 rebounds and 8 blocks. All of the rejections came in the second half.

Other scorers for Priceville included Tyler Hinkle with 5, Chance Ellsworth with 3, Gibbs with 3 and Derrick Couch with 2.

Sanford led the way for Corner with 18 points followed by Byrd with 13 points. The only other points came from Trent Fikes and Blake Angle, who had 2 apiece.

The Bulldogs (28-2), winners of their last 16 games, will now face a rematch with West Limestone, one of two teams to beat the Bulldogs this year.  West Limestone won that matchup 63-48 in Priceville’s Thanksgiving tournament in November.
