Ruth Tidd

A graveside service for Ruth Tidd, 85, of Hartselle will be Thur., (today), Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. at Hartselle Memory Gardens Cemetery with Bro. Jeremy Hardin officiating and Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Tidd died Mon., Nov. 28, 2011, at her residence. She was born June 24, 1926, in Michigan to Alan L. Bonnell and Minerva Flegal Bonnell. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Decatur. She worked with the Girl Scouts with her daughters and granddaughters for 12 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Tidd.

She is survived by four daughters, Bonita Rost Gordon and husband Thomas, Dawn Green and husband Wayne, Rhonda Strehle and Johnette Greenwell and husband Earl; three brothers, Leon Bonnell of Hartselle, Max Bonnell of Otsego, Mich., Dale Bonnell of The Villages, Fla.; five grandchildren, Angela Case and husband Nick of Decatur, Shelley Byrd and husband Bradley of Falkville, Alan Green and wife Krislen, Sara Gibson and husband Stephen and Melissa Strehle; four great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Alan Green, Nick Case, Bradley Byrd, Stephen Gibson, Ron Bonnell and Stanley Hogan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church Food Closet, 209 East Main St., Hartselle; First United Methodist Church Food Closet, 210 Hickory St., Hartselle; Free Clinic, c/o St. John’s Episcopal Church, 202 Gordon St. SE, Decatur, or Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35601.
