Community Baptist observes homecoming

We had some cool weather last week. That’s just a taste of what can be expected during the next several weeks and months. I hope everyone enjoyed the sunshine.

Community Baptist Church at Cotaco will observe homecoming services on Nov. 6. Everyone is invited to attend.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Ricky Lee and Mariea Taylor whose 11-day-old daughter died last week. The funeral was held in Lawrence County. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to them.

Sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Russell Proctor who passed away last Sunday.

Everyone is reminded that Somerville Baptist Church will host a Fun Night on Sat., Oct. 29, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Somerville Assembly will also have a Fun Night on Sat., Oct. 29, beginning at 5 p.m. Food, fun, games and a hayride will be featured. Pastor Jacob Daugette invites everyone to attend.

Sympathy goes out to the family of Roger Nichols who passed away last week.

A cheerful hello goes out to Frank and Martha Gravatt. Frank was a childhood friend of my dad. I enjoyed visiting with them last week and hearing stories about my parents, Louis and Lorena Maze.

A benefit will be held for Dennis “Dinky” Free at the Soggy Bottom Music Barn in Florette on Sat., Nov. 5. Smoked Boston butts and chickens will be available as well as barbecue plates. A cake auction will also be featured. The event will begin at 11 a.m. and last all day. Everyone is invited to come out for a fun-filled day and help support this family. Dinky has a severe liver problem and is on a list for a liver transplant. If you are unable to attend, please keep him and his family in your prayers.

A big hello goes out to Gertrude Wray, Mary Grace Asherbranner and Wanda Taylor this week.

Somerville Assembly was pleased to have Ashley and Shala Massey as visitors on Sunday morning.

Gary Rice visited at the home of Vickey Daugette on Sunday afternoon.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Hannah Collins.

A very special belated happy birthday wish goes out to Melissa Robinson on Mon., Oct. 24. A surprise party was given in her honor by her husband at their home on Friday.

Somerville Assembly was pleased to receive two new members on Sunday night. They were Daryl and Donna Orr.

Morgan Stinson hosted a Halloween party at her home Friday night.

Tommy and Jennifer Hayes, Julie and Jayla Daugette and Jacob and Ashley Daugette enjoyed a trip to Birmingham on Friday night.

Jack, Tammy and Faith Kemp and Hudson visited Jacob and Ashley Daugette on Saturday.

Jacob, Ashley and Vickey Daugette enjoyed watching the Alabama vs. Tennessee game at the home of Tommy and Jennifer Hayes on Saturday night.

J.J. Daugette spent Thursday through Sunday in Talledega.

Prayers continue to go out for Vernon White who is home recuperating from heart surgery. Prayers also go out for Mary Grace Asherbranner, Billy Willis and Wanda Taylor. Have a blessed week. Call me with your news items at 256-621-0292.
