Irwin Lester

Funeral for Irwin Lester, 89, of Hartselle, formerly of Streator, Ill. will be Thursday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at the Winterrowd Funeral Home in Streator.

Burial will be in Long Point, Ill. Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 30 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Irwin died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at the Falkville Health and Rehab Center. He was born July 4, 1921, in Toluca, Ill. to Homer Seth and Cora Mae Irwin Lester. He married Phyllis Jean Holz September 28, 1947. He retired from Owens Illinois Glass and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hartselle and the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by a sister, Freda Bentlin.

He is survived by his wife; a son, David Lester and wife Joyce of Warrenville, S.C.; a daughter, Patricia Svetz and husband James of Hartselle; three grandchildren, Monica Shannon and husband Kevin of Decatur, Marcy Murphy and husband Brian of Castle Rock, Colo. and Nathan Lester and wife Alicen of Aiken, S.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Christian Murphy, Aidan Shannon and Rylee Lester.

Pallbearers will be Richard Bentlin, Nathan Lester, Kevin Shannon, Gary Fargher, Ben Bentlin and William Zeilman.

Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 210 Hickory St. SE, Hartselle, AL 35640.
