Wake up and pray, America

Oden Ridge news

I don’t know about how most people are feeling lately but to me we are living in troubled times.
To me we have had a terrible year with floods and tornadoes and also the loss of loved ones and friends.
We hear so often of someone else with cancer or other sickness. One of the topics that was preached at Journey’s revival was for America to wake up and pray.
We all stand in need of improving our life. I am number one. We don’t pray enough. We don’t love enough.
God help us to tell more people about His wonderful saving grace. Our prayers and hopes all are in Him. America cannot survive unless we have a country wide revival or awakening. God bless America again and America bless God again.
We are glad Hubert and Ruby Oden are doing better. They enjoyed going out to eat with Pat Beavers. They only went up the road to Wyley’s Kitchen. They also enjoyed Sunday dinner with Bobby and Pat Beavers and their family.
Sunday was decoration at Oden Ridge and several families enjoyed dinner afterwards.
Journey Church had a wonderful revival last week. The evangelist was Bro. John Richardson from North Carolina. It was called an awakening instead of revival in hopes it would last for a very long time. A great crowd was there every night.
Several churches held Bible school last week. Some of our kids enjoyed Eva Baptist Bible School. Eva Baptist and Mt. View also had Bible school along with Lawrence Cove. They all had a wonderful turnout. Rock Creek will have Bible school this week.
Recently, I lost a wonderful childhood friend. Mary Grace Priedmore Henry lost her battle with cancer. Sometimes a friend is as close as a sister and she was. My heart goes out to her husband, Hoyt, her children and grandchildren, also her sister Martha Sue Shelton and brothers Donnie and Butch. Our prayers are with them.
We have others on our prayer list as well. Another school friend just had cancer surgery on her lung. Please remember Shelby Jean Eubanks Whatley, Elizabeth Wood and Charles Ford who has had surgery on his nose for cancer. He says they had to build him a new nose and it looks pretty good.
Also please pray for my little 95-year-old aunt Retha Morris. She was told she has brain cancer. My grandson Jon and daughter Leisha visited her on Saturday. She is a real trooper.
A.V. Bailey is a friend from the senior center who is having problems with diabetes. Still keep Christeen Kinney in your prayers and also my daughter-in-law and family who lost her father.
Al and I have been enjoying going to the senior center at Eva. Ms. Ruth Livingston does a great job.
Believe it or not I have been quilting some. The center is busy quilting several quilts to give to the tornado victims. Several people have donated the tops and linings: Josephine Nubey, Ruth Livingston and Mrs. Kinney. I’m sorry, but I can’t remember her first name. All have brought them in; also, several more.
Happy birthday on the 14th to my daughter Teresa Kinney and also to Jessica Bartram on the 23rd.
Journey Church’s young people are hosting an early Father’s Day dinner at Journey Church on Sat., June 18 at 5:00 p.m. The price is $10.00. there will be dinner and a movie. Everyone come and eat to help pay for their trip to the Creation Museum in Kentucky.
