Chandler to be honored at DU event

By Staff
Clif Knight, Hartselle Enquirer
When the Decatur/Morgan County committee that organizes its local Ducks Unlimited banquet convened its first meeting, it was apparent that everyone wanted to pay tribute to friend and long-time supporter Larry Chandler, who passed away this past year. It was decided the proceeds from this years' event would be donated to Ducks Unlimited in his memory, and that DU would be invited to use the event as an opportunity to recognize Chandler's lifetime support of the organization with a special presentation to his widow, Donna Chandler.
The banquet has been scheduled for Oct. 11 and has moved to the Elks Lodge off of Beltline Road in order to provide more seating.
Anyone interested in helping organize this years event, donating to its success to increase the memorial gift, or attending, is invited to contact either District Chairman Chad Hughey at 773-8632, Area Chairman Kerrick Whisenant at 214-1571 or Treasurer John Kuhlman at 654-5012. Corporate tables are available as well as single tickets.
Chandler's support of DU over the years was immeasurable. It included numerous personal appearances at DU functions around the state and nation, original artwork, thousands of prints of wildlife images for sponsor programs and countless remarqued prints and duck stamp images for auctions.
His support was not limited to Morgan County and vicinity, but enjoyed and cherished across the country.
The committee has invited DU National President, Bruce Lewis of Natchez, Miss. to join us and he has accepted and plans to be on hand to personally make the presentation to Donna and Larry's family. Numerous other state officers will join in to honor Chandler.
