Royce Nolan Bennett

Funeral for Royce Nolan Bennett, 84, of Falkville was Friday, Jan. 7, at 2 p.m. at Unity Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Robert Morgan, Bro. Truman Shaddix, Bro. Jeff Bennett and Bro. Wendell Bennett officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
A military graveside service was in Union Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Bennett died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born Jan. 18, 1920, in Morgan County to Abbie Crawford Bennett and Jannie Widner Bennett. He was a carpenter and a plumber throughout his life. He was a member of Unity Freewill Baptist Church. He was also a member of Simcoe Masonic Lodge No. 854. Mr. Bennett was a veteran of World War II and fought in seven different battles, Northern France, Central Europe, Ardennes Rhineland, Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily and Normandy. He received a Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl Bennett of Falkville; three sons, Garland Bennett and wife Becky of Falkville, Jeffery Bennett and wife Jennifer of Eva and Wendell Bennett and wife Rita of Falkville; one daughter, Martha Buckelew and husband Roger of Falkville; one brother, J.C. Bennett and wife Reba, of Eva; three sisters, Shirley Waddell of Hartselle, Katherine Maddux of Falkville and Faye Green of Lacey's Spring; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Roger Buckelew, Jerry Bennett, Kenneth Martin, Josh Bennett, Keith Bowen and Bill Brown.
