GUNTERSVILLE – Brett Mooneyham's buzzer beating layup beat Guntersville Thursday night 63-61. The lead changed hands 12 times.

Point guard Dustin Scott called the play as he raced down court. He told his teammates to clear out. All of them, except Brett Mooneyham.
Scott found Mooneyham under the basket with man-to-man coverage. Mooneyham, a senior, elevated for the game-winning shot as time ran out.
A 15-0 run by Brewer, beginning at the 2:49 mark of the third quarter and ending at the 5:42 mark of the fourth, put the Patriots ahead by 10 at 50-40.
Guntersville responded, eventually taking the lead at 58-57 with 1:18 remaining. With 10.5 remaining and the Patriots leading by three, Guntersville's Tripp Logan hit a three pointer, tying the game.
That set in motion the final play.
A major aspect of the game, according to head coach Sam Brown, was free throw shooting. Brewer hit 23 of 28 free throws, while Guntersville hit 12 of 19.
Lemont Jackson led the way with 22 points for Brewer, while Mooneyham scored 17.
Jonathon Eubanks scored a team-high 17 for Guntersville.
