Jennifer Marie Byrd

Decatur Marie Byrd passed away on March 22, 2025, at her residence. She was born on November 22, 1981, to George and Evelyn Cook in Alabama. Marie was a loving wife, mother, and daughter. She loved traveling, helping others, and spending time with her family. She occasionally had a tough time choosing between enjoying a scenic mountain getaway or a warm day on the beach; or whether she preferred Spring over Fall. Friends and family alike can attest to her generosity, her humble demeanor, and radiant personality and spirit. Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her father, George R. Cook; her grandmother, Gladys Mae Hussey Cook; her grandfather, Roy Cook; her aunt Esther Brubaker; her grandfather, George R. Pruitt; her grandmother, Mary Loucks; and her uncle, Charles “Chuck” Henderson. Survivors include her husband, Joshua Simmons Byrd; two sons, Robert Cole Byrd and Hudson Beaux Byrd; daughter, Olivia Mae Byrd; mother, Mary Evelyn Cook, sister, Betty Jane Hiersche; aunt, Liz Solomon; and many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be announced at a later time.
