Nobody could be prouder of a new addition to Falkville Town Hall than its police officers.

Five of the town’s nine officers were present for a ribbon cutting and open house of a new addition to town hall on Friday.

The addition vastly improved offices of the police department, which consists of separate offices for the chief and patrol sergeant, separate work stations for each officer, a newly-equipped conference room, booking room, file room, storage room and evidence room. A new courtroom and council meeting room is also a part of the addition.

“We’re proud of it,” said Chief Chris Free. “There’s room for our guys to move around and do their work without bumping into each other, and there’s room for expansion when and if needed. It’s a place we can call our own and give our officers a sense of ownership.”

“It has definitely helped the morale of our officers,” he pointed out.

“We feel really good about the addition even though it went a little over budget,” said Councilman David Carroll. “It’s a benefit for our police officers and office personnel and a source of pride for our community.”

“This is something that was in the making before my time,” said Mayor Bob Ramey. “It gives us a new courtroom and offices that were badly needed. Fortunately, we had some money in the Court Fund, and it could only be used for the benefit of the court and police officers.”

Councilman Carroll dedicated the addition with a prayer. Afterwards, refreshments were served.
