Peebles and Walker named to Alabama All-Star teams

Hartselle’s Brody Peebles and Priceville’s Jenna Walker was named to the Alabama All-Star basketball teams that will face the Mississippi All-Stars in Montgomery on March 12.

Peebles, a Liberty signee, helped lead the Tigers to a 25-4 record this season. He averaged 33 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 2.6 steals per game during his senior season. He finished his career as Hartselle’s all-time leading scorer with 3,049 points which is 12th all-time in AHSAA history.

“Just thankful for all that God is doing in my life,” said Peebles. “When you work hard and put a lot of time and effort into something it feels really good!”

Hartselle coach Faron Key said, “This is great recognition for a great young man. He’s worked really hard to be a good player, so if nothing rude, it should motivate our younger players in the program that if they work like Brody, they too could enjoy some success. So proud of him and happy for him!”

Walker, a Western Kentucky signee, led the Lady Bulldogs to a 25-9 record. She led her team with 13.3 points, 6.4 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. She finished her career with 1,787 points, 932 steals, and 372 steals. She helped her team win 107 games in her five years as a starter and four straight area championships. She was nominated to the 2021 McDonald’s All-American team.

“It means the world to me to represent my school, my community, and my state,” said Walker. “It has been a dream come true to be selected as one of the top players in the state of Alabama, and it is an honor to be on the roster and compete with such amazing players.”

Walker is the second player in the last three years to be selected for the Alabama All-Star team. Kathleen Wheeler, now playing at Samford, was selected to the 2019 team.

Priceville coach Terri Nelson said, “I am so proud of this accomplishment that Jenna has achieved. To represent the state of Alabama as a top Senior is a tremendous honor and a tribute to the hard work and dedication Jenna has given to her craft.”
