Priceville improves to 3-0 in area play

The Priceville Lady Bulldogs improved to 3-0 in area play with victories over West Morgan and Good Hope last this past week. Priceville outscored their two area opponents 19-5.

Priceville 8, West Morgan 1
Trailing1-0 heading into the fifth inning, the Lady Bulldogs scored four in the inning to break open a close game. They added two runs in the sixth and seventh innings to secure the victory. Katee King, Kelsey Green, Darby Thigpen and Gracin Prater each had two hits. Green and Wrozlie Barnett each had two RBIs. Maddie Black earned the win after pitching five innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out four.

Priceville 11, Good Hope 4
The Lady Bulldogs scored seven runs in the first three innings to pull away from Good Hope in their 11-4 victory. Black earned the victory after pitching 4.2 innings and allowing four runs on four hits. Madison Lafountain finished with four hits and three RBIs to lead Priceville offensively. She had a double and three stolen bases. Bailey Smyth added three hits and three runs scored, while Black and Green each had two hits and two RBIs.

Priceville played in the Times-Daily Classic this past Saturday, finishing 2-2. They won over Florence and Haleyville but lost to Hamilton and West Limestone.

Brewer 8, East Limestone 7
Brewer scored six runs in the two sixth inning for an 8-7 come-from-behind win over East Limestone. Breia Rusk had a hit and two RBIs to lead Brewer, and Keylyn Stapler added three hits and an RBI. Brooklyn Watson finished with two hits and an RBI. Karli Staton picked up the win after allowing two runs on three hits in 4.2 innings of work.

Brewer 3, Huntland (Tenn.) 1
The Lady Patriots earned their second come-from-behind victory of the week with a 3-1 win over Huntland (Tenn.) Brewer scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to secure the victory. Cadence Lott, LC Hamilton, and Rusk each had two hits to lead the Lady Patriots. Gracie Lawrence, Lott, and Watson each had an RBI. Lawrence pitched six strong innings to earn the victory. She allowed one run on three hits while striking out six.

Brewer 5, Danville 4
The Lady Patriots earned a 5-4 win over Danville when Ava Walls had a walk-off hit to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Walls finished with two hits and two RBIs, while Lott added two hits and an RBI. Rusk scored two runs. Lawrence picked up the complete game win.

Aubrey Reed led Danville with a home run and two RBIs. Karsyn Echols took the loss.

West Morgan 3, Danville 2
West Morgan plated two runs in the top of the seventh to pick up a 3-2 win over Danville. McCaghen and Tamara Hutto each had a hit and an RBI in the loss. McCaghren struck out nine while allowing three runs on seven hits in seven innings to get the loss.

Chasity Rikard threw a four-hitter and struck out 14 for the Rebels. McKinley McCaghren tossed a seven-hitter for the Hawks.

Danville 18, Brindlee Mountain 4
The Lady Hawks scored 18 runs and pounded out 16 hits in their 18-4 win over Brindlee Mountain. Reed led the way with four hits, including a home run and six RBIs, while Adily Alberti added a hit and two RBIs. McCaghren earned the complete-game win, allowing four runs on four hits while striking out 12.
