Parents say tennis courts a hazard

Some parents of tennis players are concerned about the poor condition and configuration of four of the six public tennis courts on the Hartselle Junior High School campus and want to see them repaired and maintained or replaced.
Danny Light, a youth tennis coach, agreed with Scarbrough.
A meeting was scheduled Wednesday between Mayor Dwight Tankersley and Dr. Mike Reed, superintendent of education, to address the condition of the tennis courts.
Dr. Reed said he is aware the courts need repairs but has had only one parent to lodge a complaint about their condition.
By agreement made between the city and school board in the late 1990s the Parks and Recreation Department has responsibility for lighting the courts and the school system has responsibility for maintaining them, according to P and R Director Frank Miller.
