Gilbert Shoemaker

A graveside service for Gilbert Shoemaker, 66, of Hartselle was Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. at Blair Cemetery in Cullman County with Mark Posey officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Shoemaker died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at his residence. He was born Oct. 15, 1939, in Cullman to Eligha and Oma Shoemaker. He retired from Monsanto after 29 years in maintenance. He attended Austinville Church of Christ and enjoyed fishing and spending time on Smith Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Martin Shoemaker; and his first wife, Katherine Wynn Shoemaker.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Shoemaker of Hartselle; a son, Michael Shoemaker of Vinemont; a stepson, Tim Moody and wife Judy of Hartselle; two daughters, Kay Laney and husband Jeff of Cullman and Angie Hale and husband Wesley of Vinemont; a stepdaughter, Darlene Jewellson of Somerville; a sister, Myrl Wynn and husband Joe of Vinemont; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Zeb Jewellson, Michael Moody, Kyle Laney, Jeff Laney, Jonathan Humphries, Randy Wynn and John Martin.
